Division of Plastic Surgery Scholarship for Medical Students without a Home Program: Visiting Sub-internships
Program Overview:
One funded visiting subinternship position for 4 weeks in the Division of Plastic Surgery at the University of California San Diego in San Diego, CA. This opportunity is reserved for a highly qualified applicant without a home plastic surgery program.

Funding will include up to $2000 for housing, travel, and meals.

The student will get to select a faculty member that will serve as a mentor and advisor.

The student will meet 1:1 with the plastic surgery program director and chief.

The student will have the opportunity to speak with plastic surgery residents at the program prior to starting the rotation to discuss tips and advice for succeeding during the clerkship.

The student will receive an award upon completion of the clerkship.

First Round of Student Invitations are sent March 31, 2025

Second Round of Student Invitations are sent no later than April 7, 2025

The following Rotation Blocks are offered:
- BLOCK 1: Monday 5/5/25 - Sunday 6/1/25
- BLOCK 2: Monday 6/2/25 - Sunday 6/29/25
- BLOCK 3: Monday 6/30/25 - Sunday 7/27/25
- BLOCK 4: Monday 7/28/25 - Sunday 8/24/25
- BLOCK 5: Monday 8/25/25 - Sunday 9/21/25
- BLOCK 6: Monday 9/22/25 - Sunday 10/19/25
Application Requirements:
Applicants for the funded sub-internship must be fourth year medical students applying for integrated plastic surgery residency in Fall/Winter 2025, and be eligible for the 2026 Match. Any rising MS4 is welcome to apply.
Scholarship applications are due: March 20, 2025 and acceptances will be sent by April 30, 2025.
