Education

Since our founding, the UC San Diego Division of Plastic Surgery has been a leader in education and training of world-class surgeons. In 2016, the division launched the Integrated Plastic Surgery Residency Program, designed for graduates of accredited medical schools to enter a six-year pathway that provides comprehensive training in all aspects of plastic and reconstructive surgery. Our Independent Plastic Surgery Residency Program accepts trainees after full general surgery residency into a three-year plastic surgery training pathway.

Plastic Surgery Residency Program

The mission of the UC San Diego Plastic Surgery Program is to provide exemplary patient care and clinical education, ultimately leading residency graduates to Board Certification in Plastic Surgery and to pursue creative research within the ever-changing practice environment. UC San Diego Plastic Surgery faculty, and residents conduct this mission in a cohesive spirit of patient service, community teaching and scholarly inquiry.
